Tsunami Relief Foundation - Join Us

Many young people from various places in the world have been putting a lot of their time & energy into the tsunami relief efforts being undertaken by existing organizations. Many of the relief efforts have proved fruitful, although there have been times when we have not been provided with efficient or informative feed back, and also times when we have received news of the misdirection of funds and aid. Frustrated by the lack of clarity about where funding is going to, or ‘not’ going to, we have, after much thought and consideration, decided to embark on our own project- The Tsunami Relief Foundation.

Our objectives

Give Tsunami victims in Sri Lanka both short term and long term relief:

Short term
dry rations, food, and drinking water,
clothing,
sanitary facilities,
medicine and access to doctors

Long term
therapy and trauma counseling,
building materials,
assistance in restarting livelihoods,
assistance in rebuilding,
assistance in regaining self sufficiency.

Bring young people together in order to achieve a common goal of helping victims of the tsunami.

Have an easily accessible information database on the web that includes the Foundation’s accounts, reports of the Foundation’s projects as well as any information that will come in useful when helping the tsunami victims in the most efficient way possible. We will strive towards making this website a place where people can meet and share their experiences as well as information.

Promote and hone leadership skills in all the youngsters involved, providing them with the experience of working to support those in need.

We would like to give you the chance to participate, because we know how many of you have wanted to contribute. We know how many of you have wanted to help and haven’t been able to. Here’s your chance and we place no restrictions on you. We don’t care about what religion or nationality you are, how close or how far away you are, how much you can or can’t do. Become a member, work with us. There’s a lot of time consuming, demanding work to be done and we can use every hand, your willingness and commitment are all we look for. You as a member can:

· Donate money or goods

· Participate in our projects. This might include visiting the affected areas (to get first hand information of the situation and distribute aid accordingly).

. Help with the administrative work of the organization.
· Share your experiences, ideas or any other useful information through our web page.
· Bring any skills, insights or feedback you have to the effort, especially if you think we could use them on a project the Foundation is involved in.

If you are interested in joining us, send us a mail about yourself. Include the ways in which you think you could help. Make sure to include the basics, such as your name, nationality, email, postal address, telephone number and any other information about yourself that you think might come in useful to us.

Try and get some of the people you know involved, you could start by forwarding this to as many friends as you can. Email us on trf.srilanka@gmail.com

All our implementations, as well our accounting will be available on-line on our website http://www.tsunamirelieffoundation.org/ which will be up and running as soon as possible.
